A Visit to Salamina and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre

This is just a holding post until I get time to write about the places that I visited.

My last day in Athens. I decided on a whim to visit the island of Salamina. To be more specific I went to visit the Archaeological site of Salamis to ensure I got the most out of the day.

Arrival at Perama Port via Piraeus.

A visit to the Archaeological Museum of Salamis in Salamina Town, housed in the former Kapodistrian Primary School building.

A stroll along the promenade in Salamina Town

Heading back to Perama. The Beginning of Hope, art installation by British artist Robert Montgomery. Will write more about this soon. Good to see old Sankara still going strong!

Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre. This is my third visit here – it’s a real haven of tranquility even when busy. The views on one side are to the Argo Saronic islands and the Peloponnese. The views on the other side are back towards central Athens including iconic landmarks.

You can read more about the SNFCC in my post from 2023

Farewell Athens and Yiamas to another excellent trip!
