Farewell Nisyros and on to Tilos
Our departure from the Haritos was pretty much the same as our arrival. No sign of any staff but instead, a bowl on the reception desk where keys are collected and returned. We had to leave for the ferry before breakfast was served this morning but that is no problem. The Haritos Hotel was fine for our very short visit. It is very basic accommodation which does need a little updating. However, for the price it was good value with the breakfast included and also free access to the geothermal pool. In hindsight I think I would have preferred to stay at the Romanzo again which has large shared terraces that look out over the port but I guess it’s good to try new places.
The sun has not long arisen and it is casting a golden glow over the island. It is a short walk to the port and before long we can see the Blue Star Patmos on the horizon.
After boarding we head up onto the deck. After setting sail we pass the islet of Giali where pumice is mined – like Nisyros it is easily identified from the window seat of a plane. It’s such a shame that we didn’t have at least another day on Nisyros but unfortunately that is the way that the ferry cookie crumbles! We will be on Tilos for breakfast and I can’t wait to see if it has changed after 17 years.
For now – Farewell Nisyros!
