Fifteen Years of A Greek Oddity — and a Little Celebration
Guess what. A Greek Oddity recently turned fifteen years old!
It began life on Blogger, migrated to Posterous, which then became Posthaven. Eventually, I threw myself into the confusing world of WordPress where I fumbled my way through to creating something that almost resembled a website. It’s not perfect. It’s not slick. But neither am I, and neither is the way I like to travel, or do anything in life, to be honest.
A Greek Oddity was always a place to document my personal travels rather than to chase likes and follows on social media – most of which still remains a mystery to me. Writing about Greece is a creative expression, and as I’ve always said, something I hope my children and grandchildren will one day read and maybe realise that I’m not just a boring old grandma sitting at home knitting.
I can knit. I’d just rather be on a ferry.
I’ve always intended the blog to be genuine and authentic. No content scraped from the internet, no AI generated images, no listicles telling you the top ten things to do somewhere I’ve never been. All the words and all the photographs are mine. Not perfect, but mine. And after fifteen years of blogging, that feels like something worth celebrating.
Over the last year or so, my creative urges got the better of me. What started as a small personal project gradually manifested itself into a travel planning toolkit, a companion ebook, and then an app on Google Play. The ebook became a proper book, and How Greece Moves is now out in print on Amazon as well as Kindle.
To mark fifteen years of A Greek Oddity, I have a special offer running until the end of August.
Plan Your Greece is an Android app built for independent travellers planning a trip to Greece. There are five tools: Seek helps you find your perfect Greek destination from 101 carefully curated options, Route puts all major public transport connections in Greece on one interactive map, Tools brings all the resources you need to book a Greek trip into one place, Plan lets you build your itinerary day by day and track your budget as you go, and Ticked is a personal bucket list creater and log for 133 Greek islands.
No AI, no algorithms, no sponsored results. Just thirty years of independent travel across Greece and accumulated professional experience as a Greek islands specialist turned into something useful.
Here’s the offer. The first 15 people to buy Plan Your Greece on Google Play between now and the end of August and leave an honest review will receive a copy of the companion book How Greece Moves. If you’re in the UK, I’ll send a signed (or unsigned if you prefer) printed copy. If you’re further afield, I’ll send a digital copy in either PDF or epub format for your e-reader.
The book was written as a companion aid to the app, so the two really do complement each other and come together as an invaluable set of tools for independent travellers in Greece.
To claim your copy, screenshot your review and send it to me by direct message on Facebook or Instagram. I’ll then be in touch to arrange delivery of the book.

Plan Your Greece is available on Google Play. £11.99, one purchase, no subscription, no adverts.
