Kastellorizo Gallery July 2016
In 2016 we had a wonderful holiday in Dalyan, Turkey. Part of the trip included a 4 day stay in little Kastellorizo that is so out of the way, I had never managed to make it before. We caught a taxi from Dalyan to Kas which was quite expensive for the 160km journey – however I’d wanted to visit for so long we decided it was now or never! When we arrived at Kas we went to the little tourist office near the port where they dealt with all of the visa’s for us to transfer across to Greece.
The boat arrived to take us and there were many Turkish making the journey to take advantage of the duty free goods. Sounds like a great idea! We stayed at the Megisti Hotel – the only hotel on the island (though there are pensions and other accommodation available) but we thought we’d push the boat out and stay somewhere nice – and it was.
The highlights of the trip were the boat trip to the Blue Cave where you can jump out and swim, a day on St George’s island for nice swimming and sunbathing, a walk up to the Lycian tomb and Kastro and just generally walking, eating and drinking. Oh and the stars of the show were definitely the loggerhead turtles of which there were many!
This blog is posted 5 years after the visit so I hope the photo’s do it justice and capture the essence of this very beautiful island.
